Native de Montréal, Chantal Machabée s'intéressa très jeune autant aux
sports qu'à la musique. Ainsi, à 15 ans, elle remportait un concours de
composition pour le piano, tout en participant à ses sports favoris: hockey,
football, athlétisme, tennis et le golf.
Chantal débuta sa carrière journalistique en 1981 à l'âge de 17 ans, comme
rédactrice sportive de l'hebdomadaire de Ville St-Laurent Les Nouvelles/The
News.
Après des études en littérature, au CEGEP de St-Laurent, puis en sciences
politiques à l'Université de Montréal, celle qui a déjà dit à son père "Un
jour, je serai animatrice de sports" réalise enfin son rêve.
En 1985, elle entre au réseau NTR, de la Presse canadienne, puis en 1986, à
la télé de Radio-Canada à Ottawa, toujours comme reporter sportif. En 1988,
la voici lectrice, reporter et rédactrice aux sports à TVA. Depuis 1989,
elle est lectrice au bulletin de nouvelles sportives Sports 30.
Pendant ses temps libres, outre la musique, Chantal Machabée se passionne
pour le dessin.
